When are the galleries open?

Tickets MUST be booked in advance of your visit due to strict Covid safe capacities.

During school term time the NVM Galleries are open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

During School holidays the NVM Galleries are open additional days based on Sheffield school holidays.

How do I buy tickets?

You can buy your tickets via our online shop.

How do I get there?

The National Videogame Museum  is located at:

Castle House, Angel Street, Sheffield, S3 8LN

We are 15 minutes walk from Sheffield Train Station.

We are less than 5 minutes walk from NCP Hartshead Square car park.

We are 1 minute walk from the Castle Square tram stop.

Do you have somewhere to eat and drink?

We do not have a cafe on site, and food is not permitted on the gallery floor. Drinks with a watertight lid may be brought into the galleries but please keep them away from the exhibits. We recommend eating before or after your booked session. There are many places to get food nearby, and we are happy to give recommendations!

How long can I play for?

You can play as much as you like for the session you have booked for!

What games do you have?

We have loads of games including arcade cabinets, home computing classics, console favourites, and sometimes even games not yet released to the public. Our galleries are continuously changing!

Do I have to pay for the games once I am in?

Not at all, your entry ticket gives you access to all our games on freeplay for you to enjoy to your heart’s content.

What age range is the NVM suitable for?

There is something here for everybody! All our content is aimed at a family audience. Due to the nature of videogames, over 5’s will get the most out of the experience.

Can I leave my children at the Museum?

It is a requirement that under 16s be accompanied by an adult at all times. Under 16s will not be permitted entry to the Museum without an adult with a valid admission ticket.

If younger children are left at the Museum alone, we would need to contact police to ensure their safety.

What is your refund policy?

As a charity, we are legally not able to offer refunds (this does not affect your statutory rights). We are happy to transfer tickets to another date if you are unable to visit though, please email us with your booking reference at help@thenvm.org

I can no longer visit on the day that I booked, what can I do?

All admission tickets are non-refundable. However, if you contact us in advance of the day you are currently booked for we can transfer your tickets to another date, provided there are tickets available for that date. To do so, contact us at help@thenvm.org with your booking information and what date you wish to transfer to.

If I don’t play the games do I still have to buy a ticket?

The NVM galleries are a fully interactive experience. We do not monitor whether individuals are playing games, or how much they are playing - and we do not feel it would be appropriate to do so. As such, you require a ticket to access the gallery area.
